But thou, Clitumnus!
In thy sweetest wave of
the most living crystal…
thou dost rear
Thy grassy banks whereon the milk-white steer…
A mirror and a bath for Beauty's youngest daughters!

George Byron
(LXVI, from Childe Harold's Pilgrimage)

Casco dell’Acqua, a small suburb located along the river Clitunno near the town of Trevi, which is immersed in a wonderful landscape where the slow flow of the river marks the pace of rural life.

The suburb’s name, Casco dell’Acqua, comes from the “dam” that was built to create the so-called “water jump” of the river Clitunno (“casco” in Italian from the verb “cadere” = to fall). The reason was the activation of a corn mill.

Thanks to a thick vegetation with many weeping willows and poplar trees the river banks are shady, creating a charming atmosphere.
For this reason the river Clitunno and its sources have inspired painters, poets and writers since the ancient times.
Virgil, Propertius, Pliny the Young, Carducci, Byron and many others sang its beauty.

Our Country House is immersed in this haven of peace, extremely beautiful and rich in historical and cultural references.
